The Future
Our investment priorities for Transport:
- connectivity and capacity in the strategic road network for the needs of new developments. In particular: improvements to the A2/M2 and its junctions; and improved access to key regeneration areas, including the Isle of Grain, the A249 corridor and the Kent Science Park in Swale;
- enabling the regeneration of the Ebbsfleet Valley to proceed, by means of an integrated package of environmental, public transport and road building measures;
- enhanced strategic rail services, including: bringing CTRL domestic services to key growth areas; and both Crossrail and Thameslink services to Kent Thameside;
- improved capacity and journey times on the North Kent and Chatham rail lines;
- progressing the Fastrack bus rapid transit network and advancing the Transport for Medway integrated network;
- development of a North Kent Transport Strategy;
- a full feasibility and options study for a Lower Thames Crossing.
